I was going to share with you something else I worked on. But to show you that, this one now has to come first. I worked on a few DIY ideas over the weekend just gone, they were all rather simple, yet effective. I failed on one... Part of the process of being creative right? I did make a recovery. So here is the process of a failed pinterest attempt. One I'll still go back to attempt. Here is what I was trying to do, I even had similar colours on hand too, think it might be why it caught my eye...
Looks easy enough right? I did have the blog this picture was from and can not find it, will keep looking and come back to link whe I do. But you can get the general idea from the picture above. Two different colours, easy.
I got out my supplies, I have my paint, pot, plastic plates, paper bowls... Can't go wrong.
Poor all of paint into the bowl and start to realise something isn't right and I can see the doubt all over Pippa's face, that is in the background watching me. Well not sure if it's doubt or she's just bored, and thought we were going for a walk and not impressed. I'd like to think she is 'admiring' my efforts.
At this point I knew it was not going to work the way I wanted, apart from taking forever to dry I knew that the post I had seen, done this with a pot at least maybe 2 or 3 sizes smaller than mine, which would make sense. GOSH why didn't I pick this up before hand. I was prepared to just leave it. Or to still go ahead and try make it work. Only the doubt I already had I didn't want to work on something only to know it was going to fail. LIGHT BULB, I remembered I had the gold spray paint. OH how I love thee.
Quick pot clean, thankful I didn't use stronger paint like I usually do and only used craft paint. Left to dry in the sun, cloud, sun, cloud, sun, cloud, wait the suns out again, and there is goes. Was one of those sorts of days weather wise.
Out comes the gold spray paint and to work I go. My mum and sister arrive and so I work in front of an audiance. Both asking when I had finsihed where I got the spray paint from and how much it goes for. All our houses will be filled with gold spray painted objects and it will be all my fault and I LOVE IT.
There you have a recovered plant pot. And to be honest while it's sitting here on the table with me as I type, I really love it. I had thought the other day when I bought the spray paint that I wouldn't spray any of the 20 odd pots I have [in need of more], with the gold spray paint, as I like the clay look. You know what? One wont hurt.
Lastly, my attempt of a selfie with Pippa while I was waiting for the paint to dry and trying to think what I could do as it failed. It didn't work at all, but for some reason I still really like this photo. Pippa does have a collar, but I take it off when she is at home, she prefers it, and I love her rugged wolf look.
What DIY idea have you tried that failed? Did you make it work for you?
