My blog guest today is someone that I have been following for some time. I've seen Amanda design and sell her own wood mounted stamps, design for We R Memory Keepers and see where Amanda is at now with Me and My Big Ideas and striving. Amanda is fun and bubbley and I love seeing her updates pop up in my blog feed, instagram and instagram stories. Now I want you all to get to know her more.
How did you get you into paper crafts? I’ve always just been into paper crafts. Some of my first memories are paper related - and I guess it has to do with my mother trying to entertain me before ‘screens’ became the way to entertain children. She would set me up with finger paints, coloring books, sticker balloon faces, tracing paper - I’ve ALWAYS loved working/playing with paper.
When did you realise you would rather do a memory planner and not continue with project life? Actually - working in a planner came first for me. The paper crafting I first started sharing on that first blog was art-journal type work in my planner I liked the idea that I always had my planner on me, taking it to school, and keeping it in my bag, so my ‘art work’ would be looked at all the time, not kept in a craft room somewhere or on a shelf.
When I found out about Project Life in 2011, it seemed to be the most popular/modern way people were memory keeping/paper crafting, and I knew I wanted to be CURRENT and RELEVANT. It turned out to be such a great year-long, week-by-week easy way for me to test out different styles, to experiment with different mediums, and all that good stuff - so I kept to Project Life’s pocket-style documenting as my main form of memory keeping from 2012-2015.
You designed 'IT Factor', [which I still hoard], does it feel surreal to still see your designs? Yes, I did. I did design a paper line for We R back in 2014 - I often forget that. (Man, I want to start designing again! Haa haa!) …but YES! ‘IT Factor’ — you’ve done such fun things with it, Kellie! I love how you still use pieces of that line to add pop to spreads. SO fun for me to see, and INSPIRING!
Coffee or Tea drinker? BOTH. All the heart eyes! Coffee more often, but I most definitely appreciate a good cup of hot tea, or a refreshing glass of iced tea. Mmmmm...
Do you have a crafty goals for yourself for 2017? Yes, I certainly do!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you be jet setting off to? I’m a big homebody, so the idea of traveling to my couch usually excites me. However, I truly believe California is my soul state. I knew it to be true even before I visited it for my work. A life-dream of mine is to take a month or two off, rent an RV, and scale the whole coast of California, checking out all the major cities, stopping at every beach, and photographing ALL THE PALM TREES!
Favourite tune right now? “Thoughts on Fire” by Ria Mae is my life’s theme song. // Also listening to lots of Ed Sheeran lately, and Bachata. Always Bachata.
