I plan to do the, project 'my' life again for 2015, with some changes. My idea for this just came to me one day. It was a mixture of things really, seeing people do project life in a smaller format, something I loved but knew I couldn't. Often when I'm getting my photos together, I might have some of my crafts, food, books, night out with friends, myself haha and more. I don't often put them 'all' in, mainly because then I can fit more of the family photos and I feel that I am making it more about myself than the family when I share a lot of things just about me, even known I know I'm the one to document it, you know what I mean, yeah?
So this year I'm not really aiming to go weekly at this stage. I plan to go monthly in this format. I could never go monthly with my 12x12 project life, but I'm going to give this side a crack.
Here are the things I plan to include :
- Me
- Coffee
- My Crafts
- My struggles
- My goals and plans
- Night out with friends
- Happy mail from friends
- My stamps and my business adventures.
- Favourite quotes that might not be 'family' appropriate.
Here are the things I will use :
- My Stamps
- Stamps from Kelly Purkey
- Calenders from Paislee Press
- Stamps from Ashely Goldberg
- Studio Calico Linen Handbook
- Stamps from A Beautiful Mess
- Studio Calico Project Life Kits
- Seafoam and Midnight Core Kits
- Digital cards from Big City Quiet
Here are the things I wont use this time round :
- Currently cards
- Embellishments of any sort
- Oh the lovely things calenders
Yup I'm planning to 'try' and keep this absolutely embellishment free, I know a few Color Cast Designs, might make their way into it. See the thing is, I've noticed looking back on my project life from 2013 to this years album, that I used a lot more embellishments for 2013. This year I've mainly used something say every 2-3 weeks. I noticed that my 2013 albums are bumpy and somethings have indented photos, and by all means the albums are not packed choca block. I started to notice it in my project my life album while flicking through it the other day to get ideas on how I plan to move forward for 2015.
So that is my plan for my project 'my' life. A little idea that hit me one day, and even known I thought I was crazy for attempting it, I'm glad I did.
Will you be joining me in 2015 and doing a mini project life album based on YOU?
For my Family PL album, it's not weekly or monthly more of a 'placed in order' even if not necessarily scrapped in order as I work on it in snippets at a time of whatever I feel like at the time. I tend to add quite a bit of me in there as previously felt absent. I couldn't do an entire seperate album however my approach as we move into the new year will differ in that I will include a lot more hidden journalling just for me (and possibly found by others later on) and more work on the separate kid and travel albums. I am contemplating an album, most likely smaller format (some of those albums are gorgeous! And calling my name hehe) for all my handmade projects spanning many years as a record/showcase kind of thing, still contemplating :) and time permitting, I hope to share more next year as I've previously not so much done :)

I wanted to start an about me album after my last birthday but as usual I did two pages and then nothing. So maybe I'll try again after my next birthday. After all it's the lead up to my 40th. Might a good year to record. I always bite off more than I can chew and still haven't managed to record a whole year of Project Life. I think I've decided that I need to record memories by events rather than the strict week or month format. Too much other stuff just gets in the way for me unfortunately.

I look forward to seeing it. I will be doing a family project life and try to include more of myself as I often forget to include me. I think I will just do photos in sequence rather than weekly spreads like I attempted this year.

I totally hear you about the embellishments! I stopped using them earlier this year as I had indentations in my photos as well and I didn't like the bulk it added to my album. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your album too. It's such a great idea!

I think your Projec My Life is a great idea I am so glad to see you will be still going with it.
It is very curious because reading what you won't use, it has happened totally the opposite thing to me. This year I went more minimalist and I realized that didn't make me quite happy after all. I looked back at the pages of mine that I really loved and those have cards created from stamps, embellishments, alphas and that sort of things.
I love how pocket scrapbooking is totally different thing for everyone of us. :)

I am so thoroughly intrigued by this project and would love to tackle something like this in 2015...except something that's Shannon AND Kelsey-centric...I really love the idea of documenting our relationship in detail. I just hate feeling guilty "stealing" pockets in traditional weekly PL layouts from my kids to put a photo of Shannon and me in it, you know?
Anyway. I'm really looking forward to following along with this in 2015. I've vowed to make my 12x12 2015 PL album virtually embellishment free (after all, the last half of my 2014 PL album has been almost entirely embellishment fee) but only because I want to focus on making more mini albums, and despite what my IG feed leads people to believe, I don't actually have time to do it all. Ha!

Good plans. I esp like the embellishment free one for the same reasons. For me it's all about documenting things we did and things I want to save. I'm not following anyone else's rules either.

I don't think I could do embellishment free but I love layouts that are minimalistic. My go-to embellishments have been wood veneers / alphas of some sort and stamps. I tend to shy away from items that may make my layouts super bulky.
I also plan to include more of myself and my new business venture. I also plan to tell more of the story rather than just putting photos in without the words to go along with it.
