Here is what I am currently getting creative with : In the mail yesterday came my trimming packages from Umbrella Prints for their 'trimmings challenge', check out more info, here.  I decided I wanted to make a oil bag with one packet for sure.  Did I mention I don't sew?  This is the first time since high school, apart from on paper.

I didn't have any backing of any sort, and I decided late afternoon that I was making this, last night no matter what, so I went and bought soft hand towels.  Same thing, right, haha?  Close enough for me.   I followed this tutorial here.  I did get a little confused here and there, and I think you might have to have a general understanding of sewing, to which I don't.  Here is the result.

OK there are many mistakes and I learnt a lot from making this. But I admit I am still really proud of myself.  That and I really love it.  If you would like to know more about oils, pop me an email : kelliewinnell AT gmail DOT com, I could talk oils for hours, pre-warned.

Here is what I am currently getting creative with : I was cleaning up the other day, with a cuppa and something I cleaned up were about 4 packets of 5 canvas coasters, I'd had plans for them in 2014, but didn't go through with it.  Then I got an idea for some quick and simple, rad looking coasters.

SUPPLIES :

1. coasters
2. paint
3. paint brush
4. masking tape

Or if your like me and lack in masking tape, washi tape should do the trick as well.  I actually have a few rolls of gold, so gold it was.

Honestly you could wrap this around, slap some modge podge on and call it done.  I decided to mix it up and do two this way.  Skies the limits for as many washi tapes as you like, cover it all.  Or like the other two, simply use as a guide.

 

Paint and leave to dry.  Best placed on top of a glass, or something similar.  I used a mason jar.  Once dry, peel off and your done.  Unless you want to add a coat of modge podge for protection.

 4 very simple and quick coasters that would make AWESOME gifts as well.  Who doesn't need coasters, right?

Here is what I am currently getting creative with : I decided to have a play with my November release, EPIC and try and use bright water colour paints.  Must admit I am pretty happy with the results.

Over the weekend I did nothing but work on my project life.  Since then I have been adding snippets here and there and journalling over the past few days.  Slowly catching up.  Not even touching my knitting at night which is not like me, still catching up on sleep.

Here is what I am currently getting creative with :

I've been working on several things at one time without even realising this.  I ave been knitting what is meant for dish cloths into coasters instead for my pen pals, which is making me late, but hoping that they love them and it's all worth it.  As many of you would of seen I have been working with water colour paints to make thank you cards and christmas cards, here and here.  The wire 'hello' has been on my un-finished goals list, here, for ages to get it ticked off my list.   Thanks to Mel and her inspiration, I'll be sharing how I am tackling the un-finished projects soon.

Here is what I am currently getting creative with :

Yeah I know shock, it's something with needles and cotton this time not wool, so that's different.  I made a dishcloth, which I actually think the pattern is far too pretty for that and so I am working on something else.  Of course after I made one I wanted to try with black and white, my favourite colours or shades, however you want to see it.  Was a little trial and error, and I need to thread the ends, but overall I'm happy with the result.

Here is what I am currently getting creative with :

 

Granny squares are something I learnt while I was on my break.  It took me a few tries, OK more than a few and a lot of frustration.  Once I got it, I could not understand how I didn't just 'get' it to begin with. Now loving, and have a few different projects on the go related to granny squares.  FYI they make awesome coasters. Now to learn new crochet stitches.

I got the girls to make one each of these after school the other Friday in the winters sunshine.  Both Heidi and Chloe loved it, of course they are now wanting to make more.  I predict already a wall full of them in their room, and already I love the idea.  I am now working on a larger scale gods eye for my favourite wall in the house.  I got the idea from Rachel from Smile and Wave, here.

Yup, knitting, who would had guessed, right?  I do still play with paper, haha, I have just been lacking in mojo in that area lately.  I feel like I am almost forcing myself.  Due to the cold winter nights, I love nothing more than snuggling into my bed, cuppa, bit of McLeods Daughters and my knitting along with Pippa [dog], to keep me company.  That is until Luke comes to bed to kick her off.  I am making a kindle cover, no idea how, just going with it, and a beanie for Heidi for school.  Both completely new to me.

On Tuesdays I always leave the office early to go home and get a few house hold chores done.  What I really mean is craft, haha.  No, not really.  But I often try and manage to do both if I have an idea or working on something that I can go back and forth to, while getting other things done in the mean time, multi tasking they call it, right?  Candle making with that big pot, plant holder, thing, is one of them.

Here is what I am currently getting creative with :

I decided to not write directly onto the photo and instead insert a flip pocket and write on vellum paper. Easier to read and for something a little different.  The family sticker is from Heidi Swapp and part of the embellishment kit from My Paper Balloon, called Glitz and Glam and in store NOW, here. 

I am pretty excited for a crafty friend of mine, Olya and her partner.  Olya and Charisse got together to bring a gorgeous summer project life inspired set, that is perfect for the warmer weather, but honestly has many uses.  I decided to do up a 'I miss summer' spread in my, project 'my' life, to reflect back on our trip away and why I love and miss it so.
